Lukashenko: I like that our name is & laquo; Eastern Switzerland & raquo;, sorry there are no mountains
The head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, during a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko today, 13 February, stressed that he was not offended when Belarus was compared to Switzerland, calling it Switzerland of Eastern Europe. This is reported by the press service of the President of Belarus. Cassis informed the head of the post-Soviet republic: It is a great honor for us that Switzerland serves as an example for Belarus. We really have a lot in common. And the number of people is similar, we are surrounded by neighbors, great cultural diversity. All this gives us the opportunity to perform a special function in the construction of bridges (that is, the development of cooperation between countries and peoples. Comment. Press Service of the Belarusian President). Lukashenko, welcoming Cassis, said that Belarus is often called eastern Switzerland, the official message reads. I have absolutely no objection to such a definition. Because Switzerland has earned such a favorable status in the world thanks to its policy, constant neutrality and very great decency in relations with other states, Lukashenko said. There are slight differences, though. After all, we are a country of forest, plain, with a lot of water resources. You have, which attracts always people, many good available ski resorts. The mountains paint your country very much. Unfortunately, we don 't have that. Curiously, the day before, February 11, the press service of the Belarusian leader quoted Lukashenko's speech at a meeting with the heads of the largest state media of the post-Soviet republic. The event was attended by a spousal cheta of propagandists: Natalia Eismont is the press secretary of the President of Belarus, and her husband Ivan Eismont heads the largest state-owned media holding of Belteleradniy Company. 'And you don 't have to, let's say, compare us to states like us: Switzerland, Austria and so on. It is absolutely impossible because these states exist within a powerful, huge European Union. And they always rely on their allies, and at least they 're not shot in the back. We are in a position that we also get from allies, and from rivals or enemies, as we called them. And in this regard, Belarus is shooting from all sides. And in large foreign media, insinuations, and sometimes known lies and slander, often appear against our country, the presidential press service quoted Lukashenko's speech. Before that Lukashenko called the post-Soviet republic the heart of Europe, the center of Europe, a quiet harbour, an island of stability and a central European country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has also introduced many wonderful epithets, such as a security donor, a bridge between the EU and the EAEU. Read the story news: Belarusian multi-vector
