WHO provides fresh data on SARS-CoV -2 infection in the world
The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the world reached 2,544,792, reported on April 23 in WHO. Over the past 24 hours this indicator has increased by 73,657, and the number of fatal outcomes of infection with coronavirus infection per 6689. The total number of deaths of SARS-CoV -2 virus infection worldwide reached 175,694. Part of the world with the highest number of infected is, according to WHO, Europe, where 1,251,458 cases of coronavirus infection and 113,336 deaths have been confirmed. Over the past 24 hours the first indicator increased by 31,972, the second by 3384. In America, the number of infections was 957,402, and the number of deaths was 47,812. The first indicator for the day increased by 32,111 (more than for the day European), the second by 3038. In the Eastern Mediterranean region, 144,450 cases of SARS- CoV -2 virus infection and 6,469 deaths were confirmed in people diagnosed with COVID-19. According to WHO country statistics, the most cases of SARS-CoV -2 infection were found in the USA: 800 926. Spain still ranks second with 208,389 infections, Italy third (187,327). More than one hundred thousand cases of infection were also reported in Germany (148,046 infected), in Great Britain (133,499 infected) and in France (117,961 infected. In Turkey, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection reached 98,674, in Iran 85,996, in China 84,301 and in Russia 62,773. As previously reported by the news agency, on April 23, Hans Kluge, head of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, stated that the number of confirmed cases of SARS-CoV -2 virus infection in Europe had increased by more than a quarter in a week.
