Trump announces withdrawal from Open Skies Treaty over Russia

US President Donald Trump announced his withdrawal from the international agreement on open skies over Russia, according to Reuters on May 21. Trump said that the United States has good relations with Moscow, but Russia is caught in multiple treaty violations, and the United States sees no point in remaining. The Treaty on Open Skies between 35 countries envisages mutual observation flights by the participating countries as a measure of collective security.
