US industrial activity falls to 11-year low
Production activity in the United States fell to a low in 11 years in April, to crisis levels in 2009, Reuters reported on May 1. According to a report by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the national manufacturing activity index fell from 49.1 in March to 41.5 in April. This is the lowest level since April 2009. Manufacturing activity was heavily affected by the destruction of supply chains and the blocking of entire sectors of the US economy due to the coronavirus epidemic. However, the index was slightly higher than the projected 36.9. Read also: Dow Jones and S & P show maximum monthly growth since 1987
