In Ukraine, doctors began to leave the Chernobyl hospital en masse

In Kharkov, doctors began to leave the radiation protection dispensary en masse, the director of the institution Irina Pirogova said on June 23, Interfax-Ukraine reports. The dismissal is caused by the fact that the dispensary began to receive patients with COVID-19. We need at least five more anesthesiologists, at least five therapists and somewhere in the 20 25 of the middle and junior staff, in order to set up the normal mode of work told the director. According to her, at first 70 people agreed to work with COVID-19 patients, but then their number dropped to 15. The Kharkov regional administration said that they were monitoring the situation in the institution. Lawyers are studying applications for dismissal, and local authorities are deciding the issue of involving doctors in the radiation protection dispensary. Earlier, members of organizations representing the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident staged a protest. They blocked the territory of the dispensary and demanded not to accept patients with COVID-19 in their hospital. As a result of the brawl, two police officers were injured.
