In South Africa, they began the second stage of opening schools
The South African Ministry of Education continues the phased resumption of schools, despite a sharp increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection in the country. This was reported by the Air Force Swahili with reference to a statement by the Minister of Primary Education of South Africa Angie Motshekgi. According to her, classes R (five-year-old students), sixth grade (11-year-old students) and 11th grade (16-year-old students) returned to schools on Monday, July 6, a month after the resumption of classes in graduation classes. Since the resumption of classes in June, there have been cases of coronavirus infection among students and teachers, reporters say. According to the news agency, in the Western Cape province there were demonstrations of parents and teachers for closing schools. The Minister stressed that school administrations need to continue to follow health recommendations, as 2,740 teachers and 1,260 students have contracted coronavirus since graduates resumed classes last month. About 11 teachers and three students died of COVID-19. Thousands of new cases are reported every day, with a total of 205,721 cases currently identified, including 3,310 fatalities.
