Wholesale and retail sales in Tajikistan decreased by 7%
According to the results of January-August 2020, sales in retail and wholesale trade in Tajikistan amounted to 19.9 billion somoni ($1.9 billion), which is 7% less than in the same period of 2019. This was reported by Avesta with reference to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. During the reporting period, sales in food, substances and mixed markets amounted to 7.2 billion somoni ($796 million). Food products account for 49.1% of total trade, non-food 50.9%. The expenses of one citizen of Tajikistan in the field of retail trade amounted to 2116 somoni ($205). Among food products, residents of the republic spend the most money on meat, sausages, sugar and confectionery, flour, bread and vegetables.
